5 More Reasons To Support Idle No More – Posted from a Friend

A friend made this list and I thought I would share it with you. These are 5 more reasons to support the Idle No More Movement. This applies to our American friends as well, who are experiencing the Idle No More Movement there as well.

1. Support for all those that freely fight for all of our nations shared rights to air, WATER and natural food on the homeland for the homeland…
*Our water is holy and sacred and as of right now. Canada has abandoned its responsibility for its protection. We must then assert our inherit rights to protect it.

2. You resist global mercenaries paid to fight for oil, greed, conquest.
*When corporate profit is privileged over the health of our land and water, we all suffer.

3. It is a matter of social and environmental justice.

4. We are all treaty people.
When our government unilaterally imposes legislation on the First Nations, they dishonour the Crown, they dishonour us (all of us regardless of race), and they dishonour our treaty relationship.
If our government does not respect indigenous and treaty rights, then the very legitimacy of the Canadian state — and thus of all our citizenship rights — is in doubt.

5. Environmental and Human Rights
*Lets stand together in Solidarity

  2. 1. So what legislation to your propose? What lifestyle changes? How does everyone continue to live their lives as they were, without losing anything, while still giving the first nations people what they want?

    2. Fighting for oil and conquest is better for the world. People in Niger today experience communication, information, freedom and health that exceeds robber barons 50 years ago. More progress has been made in global human rights and quality of life in the last 50 years, than in the previous 500. So I don’t really see why the world getting “on oil” is a problem even if it needs to be fought for?

    3. How do you impose social justice? How do you enact environmental justice?

    4. Nooo… if we disrespect treaty rights, we disrespect treaty rights. My life and your life as a Canadian won’t change, only those covered under the indian act has a life change. The queen is not going to come out and say Canada is no longer a country and we aren’t covered under the canadian constitution and charter of human rights.. right?

    5. If you answer the first four questions.. fine, lets stand in solidarity. Now what?
